Submitted to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board for public exhibition in 2008, the movie survived with two major cuts to sex scenes and was rated an R18.

Such was the advance international buzz of the film that it was invited to compete at Cannes Film Festival, being the 3rd entry from the Philippines (following the films of movie great Lino Brocka, Jaguar and Bayan Ko: Kapit Sa Patalim. Its premiere there was marked by the walking out of several veteran film critics who protested Mendoza's version of "misery porn."

Family issues began to resurface about the resentments and pains unravel because of the idea of selling portions of the land, left behind by their movies deceased father. This touching movie showed how to love, forgive and a mother's love to heal the wounds and unite her children back. This movie showcases the talent of great actors such as (best actor) Johnny Delgado, (best actress) Gloria Romero, Jericho Rosales and Dina Bonnevie.

Foster child movie is an award-winning indie film from Seiko Films, which stars Cherry Pie Picache as a temporary foster parent to an abandoned child. Thelma (Cherry Pie Picache), together with her husband Dado (Dan Alvaro) and teenage sons Gerald (Alwyn Uytingco) and Yuri (Jiro Manio), are an urban poor family hired by a local foster care facility to provide temporary home and care to abandoned babies pending the latter's formal adoption. The inevitable separation is heart-rending for the foster family. Thelma's foster child John-John (Kier Segismundo) is to be turned over to his adoptive American parents. Every moment with the 3-year-old John-John becomes more precious as Thelma goes through the day fulfilling her motherly duties for the last time—bathing John-John, feeding him, and bringing him to school where the boy participates in a school presentation.The movie receives good critics and even won awards from best film to best actress. A must see film.

Ang Tanging Ina  is a 2003 Filipino comedy film, starring Ai-Ai de las Alas which is a single mother of 10 children. She had 3 husbands but all died in a funny circumstances. The movie was one of the top grossing film in the Philippines. The movie showed how great is a mother's love, on how she face all the trials just to let her sustain all the needs of her children. This movie is a heartwarming and very inspiring yet a funny movie.
